Researching the History of Social Differentiation and Human Categorization
Johannes Paulmann
Social differentiations and human categorizations are subject to historical change: this applies to the arrangement into estates, classes, or strata as well as to the division into large social fields such as politics, religion, or society itself. Social entities such as groups, networks, or organisations also show different historical characteristics and change. The considerations in this article provide an overview of the historiographical study of differentiation processes.
